Man Allegedly Shoots Bride Days After Shotgun Wedding

Couple Supposedly Known Each Other For A Few Days

LOS ANGELES — Days after their wedding, the groom allegedly shot his bride five times in front of their home following an argument, authorities said.

Susan Vanvleet, 41, underwent surgery Monday night at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where she was in critical condition, said Robin Haynal, a spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
She had been married less than a week to Ramon Peter Mora, 29, who fled the scene after the shooting. Deputies found Vanvleet in the passenger seat of a vehicle outside the Fremontia Avenue home at 1:03 a.m.

“She was actually conscious when we got there and was able to say that she was shot by her new husband,” Sgt. Kish Doyle said. “I think they got married four days ago and they had known each other for a week.”

The woman said she got into an argument with her new husband and he pulled a gun.

Mora, a parolee, had been arrested Jan. 22 on suspicion of carrying an assault rifle, but he posted bail the same day
